Dr Frances James
Dr Frances James is an internationally recognised equine surgeon and specialist in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, with over 20 years of clinical, academic, and research experience. She graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Cambridge, receiving distinction in Animal Surgery and multiple awards for academic excellence.
She completed her postgraduate internship and residency in Large Animal Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania (New Bolton Center, USA), followed by an academic appointment as Lecturer in Equine Sports Medicine. Dr James is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS), the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), and the American College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (Equine), and is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Surgery. Since 2016, she has been working as an Equine Surgeon at Newmarket Equine Hospital and is FEI Veterinarian.
Dr James has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications, including in Equine Veterinary Journal and Veterinary Surgery, and is a frequent invited speaker at international conferences. Her main clinical and research interests include equine orthopaedic surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques, postoperative complications, and equine sports medicine.
